Hola, Snippetteers! I’m back (in limited capacity), and am slowly working on edits for my upcoming release Speedbump. It should be out in February, but until then here’s a little teaser.
I turned in front of the full-length mirror (that hung in Tray’s office, not in my bedroom) and was happy with the look. I looked damned good as a woman when I did it on my own terms. Which, strangely, this felt like, regardless of the fact I’d been summoned. I could show the judge how well adjusted I was, how I was not a freak who didn’t deserve anything good to happen in their entire life. I could answer to Ezra Jane and be fine with it.
But first, I needed to get the wave clamps out of my hair, douse my head with a light misting of hairspray, and pray the day didn’t get humid.
Thanks for reading!

Yay, it’s so awesome to see you making a comeback! This snippet was not only powerful, tugging at the heartstrings of any woman who’s looked in the mirror, contemplating the changes in her herself, but it feels particularly apt.

Hairspray is a must in humid climates. Loved this, Charli – thank you. 🙂

This is interesting. Can’t wait to read more, but, oh, hairspray. I abandoned that years ago, along with most of my hair. Short and sweet and low maintenance. I much prefer it.

I really love the “when I did it on my own terms” comment. Nice.

My fingers are crossed that the judge agrees. Two small paragraphs and I’m already totally rooting for her! Great snippet. ❤
