Hello and Happy Wednesday!
If there’s anything I love as much as stories it’s music (or maybe musicians ;)), so today I’m going to share a little of my latest musical obsession. Against Me! isn’t new, they’ve been around for quite a while, but last fall the lead singer published a book about her transition, which got the attention of a friend who turned me on to the band. They’re punk, but even if you’re not into punk stick around for a second.
Laura Jane Grace is officially one of my heroes. She came out and transitioned after she was famous—not the first to do that, sure, but I don’t know if anyone else made a series of vids in which they eloquently discusses what it is to be trans. They’re not long time-wise (and also not new, almost three years old now), and definitely worth the watch.
For non-punk fans, here’s some of her acoustic greatness.
If you liked that, maybe try this one sometime. It comes with some cool insights to the featured songs.
For punk-lovers, here’s a large helping of Against Me! for your listening pleasure! ❤
❤ Hope your Wednesday rocks! ❤
